POWERGRID approves Rs 485 crore SCADA upgrade, JPY 80 bn loan
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has approved a Rs 485.04 crore project for the upgrade of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems at its National Transmission Asset Management Centre (NTAMC) and Regional Transmission Asset Management Centres (RTAMC), according to a regulatory filing issued after the company’s Board meeting held today.
The project covers upgrades of SCADA systems and associated infrastructure used for transmission asset management and operational monitoring across POWERGRID’s national and regional centres.
The Board also approved raising an unsecured term loan of JPY 80 billion from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and participating financial institutions.
Last month, POWERGRID approved three transmission and communication infrastructure projects with a combined estimated investment of Rs 584.13 crore.
Management changes
Alongside the project and financing approvals, POWERGRID announced changes in senior management positions.
Smt. Anjana Luthra, currently General Manager (Company Secretariat), has been appointed as Company Secretary and Compliance Officer with immediate effect from June 10, 2026. She is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and has more than 25 years of experience across corporate secretarial, legal, finance, and compliance functions. The company stated that she was involved in the launch of POWERGRID Infrastructure Investment Trust (PGInvIT), the first Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) sponsored by a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE).
Shri Venkata Subrahamanyam Vallurie, Chief General Manager (Finance and Accounts), has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with effect from July 1, 2026. He is a qualified Cost Accountant with more than 35 years of experience, including over three decades at POWERGRID. According to the filing, he has worked on finance digitisation initiatives and SAP implementation within the company.
POWERGRID stated that both appointments were made under company service rules and that none of the appointees are related to any director of the company.
