Power Grid approves three transmission projects worth Rs 584 crore

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has approved three transmission and communication infrastructure projects with a combined estimated cost of Rs 584.13 crore, according to a regulatory filing.

The approvals were granted by the company’s Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects.

The first project involves augmentation of 1×500 MVA, 400/230 kV Interconnecting Transformer (ICT) at the Tuticorin-II Gas Insulated Substation (GIS). The estimated cost of the project is Rs 132.06 crore, with commissioning scheduled by February 17, 2028.

The second project relates to the installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) and associated communication systems on existing interstate transmission system (ISTS) lines in the Western Region. The project has an estimated cost of Rs 308.49 crore and is scheduled for commissioning within 30 months from the project allocation date, by September 18, 2028.

The third approved project covers the installation of OPGW and associated communication systems on existing ISTS lines in the Eastern Region. The project is estimated to cost Rs 143.58 crore and is also targeted for commissioning within 30 months from the allocation date, by September 18, 2028.
