Oil India signs collaboration framework with Canada’s PTRC
Oil India Limited (OIL) has signed a collaboration framework with the Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC), a not-for-profit energy research company of the Province of Saskatchewan, Canada. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Global Energy Show 2026 on June 10 at Calgary. The collaboration covers carbon dioxide (CO₂) utilisation, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), geothermal energy, startup collaboration, business opportunity identification, and joint research through PTRC’s Energy Innovation Hub laboratory. The partnership is intended to support India-Canada cooperation in energy transition and sustainability-related technologies.
Shakti Pumps invests Rs 10 crore in SESL for 2.2 GW solar plant
Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has invested Rs 10 crore in its wholly owned subsidiary, Shakti Energy Solutions Limited (SESL), for setting up a greenfield high-efficiency solar domestic content requirement (DCR) cell and solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing plant in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. The proposed facility will have a production capacity of 2.20 GW. Shakti Pumps had earlier invested Rs 24 crore in SESL in April 2026 for the same project. The investment forms part of the company’s forward integration strategy in the solar manufacturing segment.
Sterling and Wilson partners Shinsung for semiconductor HVAC projects
Sterling and Wilson Private Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Korea-based Shinsung E&G to jointly pursue cleanroom and dryroom heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for semiconductor, battery, and display fabrication facilities in India and the Middle East. The partnership will focus on jointly bidding for and executing projects related to high-specification fabrication facilities. Sterling and Wilson will provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) execution capabilities, while Shinsung E&G will contribute specialised HVAC technologies. The collaboration targets semiconductor fabs, outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facilities, battery plants, and display manufacturing units.
Maharashtra clears Rs 11,700 crore in transmission projects across Mumbai, Pune and Gadchiroli
The Maharashtra Transmission Committee (MTC) has approved transmission projects worth more than Rs 11,700 crore across Mumbai, Pune, Gadchiroli and renewable energy zones in the state. The approvals include new 400/220 kV and 400/132 kV substations in Gadchiroli, a Rs 110 crore transmission scheme for Pune’s Hinjewadi information technology corridor, and major upgrades for Mumbai’s transmission network. The committee also approved renewable energy evacuation schemes in Jalna, Latur and Dhule regions to support nearly 6,000 MW of solar and wind generation. The projects were cleared during the 17th MTC meeting held on April 20, 2026.
Kandla green hydrogen transmission project stalls after Reliance withdraws bid
India’s planned transmission system for Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia manufacturing in Gujarat’s Kandla region has been put on indefinite hold after Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) withdrew from the bidding process. The National Committee on Transmission (NCT) noted that no formal General Network Access (GNA) applications had been received from developers. The project was intended to support a 3 GW Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia manufacturing hub in the Kandla area. Due to uncertainty around the Kandla node, the associated Lakadia Phase II transmission scheme has also been modified, increasing its estimated project cost to Rs 8,238 crore.
Centre approves Rs 531 crore CFA for Rajasthan PM-KUSUM projects
The central government has approved Rs 531 crore in Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for 553 solar power producers under Component-C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme in Rajasthan. The approved support includes Rs 379.41 crore for 432 projects connected to Jodhpur Discom and Rs 151.21 crore for 121 projects linked to Ajmer Discom. The projects represent a combined installed capacity of 598 MW. Rajasthan currently has 1,312 decentralised solar projects with a combined capacity of 3,371 MW under PM-KUSUM Component-C.
HG Infra beats Adani Energy, Power Grid to win Jharkhand transmission project
H.G. Infra Engineering Limited (HGFINRA) has received a letter of intent (LOI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) for development of the “WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme – Part C” in Jharkhand under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route. The project is estimated to cost around Rs 912 crore. It involves construction of a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line between the Jamshedpur (New) and Balasore substations along with substation extension works. HG Infra emerged successful against bidders including Adani Energy Solutions Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
JSW Energy to acquire 300 MW thermal plant in Chhattisgarh
JSW Energy Limited has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100% equity shares of Maruti Clean Coal and Power Limited (MCCPL), which owns a 300 MW thermal power plant at Korba in Chhattisgarh. The transaction values MCCPL at an enterprise value of around Rs 1,410 crore. Rajasthan discoms account for 195 MW net contracted capacity under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), while around 64 MW is exposed to the merchant market. Following the acquisition, JSW Energy’s installed thermal generation capacity will increase from 5,658 MW to 5,958 MW.
NLC India commissions final 660 MW unit of Ghatampur thermal project
NLC India Limited has declared commercial operation declaration (COD) for Unit-3 of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project with effect from June 13, 2026. The unit has a capacity of 660 MW. With this, the entire 3×660 MW Ghatampur Thermal Power Station has entered commercial operation. The project is being developed through Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL), a joint venture between NLC India Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL).
CEA to mandate grid-forming inverters for new BESS projects
The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has decided to mandate Grid Forming Inverters (GFM) for all new Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) above 50 MW and for 25% of the capacity of all new renewable energy (RE) plants. The decision follows a major disturbance at the Khavda Renewable Energy complex on May 13, 2026, which caused generation loss of around 9,000 MW. According to GRID-INDIA, the event led to tripping of around 17 Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission lines within 16 seconds. The new requirements are intended to improve grid stability in regions with high renewable energy penetration.
Maharashtra expands green data center park policy statewide
The Maharashtra government has amended its Integrated Green Data Center Parks policy by increasing the number of permitted parks from three to twenty and extending the scheme across the state. The revised framework also reduces the mandatory green energy usage requirement for core data center activities from 100% to 51%. Projects involving investment of Rs 30,000 crore will receive an electricity tariff subsidy of Re 1 per unit for 10 years, while projects above Rs 60,000 crore will receive the subsidy for 20 years. The amendments were notified through a Government Resolution dated June 9, 2026.
Sugs Lloyd, Oswal Pumps win Bihar rooftop solar orders worth Rs 804 crore
Sugs Lloyd Limited and Oswal Pumps Limited have received rooftop solar project orders from Bihar’s distribution companies under the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana. Sugs Lloyd secured a 16 MW order worth approximately Rs 56.57 crore from North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL). Oswal Pumps received three orders covering 63 MW across the Motihari, Saharsa, and Ara Circles with an aggregate installation value of around Rs 247 crore. The projects will be executed under the CAPEX plus Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model with a 10-year operation and maintenance period.
MNRE clarifies ALMM List-II exemption for rooftop solar projects
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has clarified the procedure for rooftop solar projects installed before June 1, 2026, but not yet commissioned under net-metering, to seek exemption from Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II requirements for solar photovoltaic (PV) cells. Applicants will need to submit GIS-tagged site photographs, invoices, installation reports, and self-certification through a dedicated portal. The relaxation window will remain open until July 15, 2026. Distribution companies (DISCOMs) may allow interim commissioning while exemption applications are under review.
Waaree Energies receives 800 MW solar module supply order
Waaree Energies Limited has received an order for the supply of 800 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules from a domestic entity described as a leading energy solutions provider. The company said the order will be executed during FY27. Waaree also recently signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) through its subsidiary for a 300 MW wind power project in Dwarka, Gujarat. The company reported a 101.45% year-on-year increase in profit after tax to Rs 3,884 crore on revenue of Rs 26,537 crore for FY26.
