MNRE adds RECPDCL, REIL as rooftop solar implementation partners
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has expanded the list of Scheme Implementation Partners (SIPs) for the government building rooftop solar component under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
In an office memorandum, MNRE named REC Power Development & Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) and Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL) as additional SIPs.
Both Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) will assist central ministries, departments, states, and Union Territories in accelerating rooftop solar installations on government buildings. No Central Financial Assistance (CFA) will be provided for these projects.
The ministry said the decision follows guidelines issued in July 2024 and has been approved by the MNRE.
Role of SIPs
Scheme Implementation Partners for the government building rooftop solar component are designated Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) tasked with supporting ministries and departments in the installation of rooftop solar systems on government assets.
MNRE has assigned multiple CPSUs as SIPs under the scheme. These include Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), NTPC Limited, NHPC Limited, SJVN Limited, Power Grid Corporation of India, THDC India Limited, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), REMC Limited, and NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN).
With the latest addition, RECPDCL and REIL have also been included in the list of implementing partners.
