HG Infra beats Adani Energy, Power Grid to win Jharkhand transmission project
H.G. Infra Engineering Limited (HGFINRA) has received a letter of intent (LOI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) for development of the interstate transmission system associated with the “WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme – Part C” in Jharkhand under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route.
The company received the LOI on June 13, 2026. Â
Project details
The transmission scheme is housed under “WR ER Part C Power Transmission Limited”, a wholly owned subsidiary of RECPDCL. The project is estimated to cost around Rs 912 crore and is intended to strengthen interregional power transfer capacity between the western and eastern regional grids.
The scope of work includes construction of a new 400 kV double-circuit transmission line between the Jamshedpur (New) and Balasore substations. The project also includes extension works at the Jamshedpur (New) substation in Jharkhand. The substation itself is being developed separately under the “WR-ER Interregional Network Expansion Scheme – Part A”.
Bidding competition
Seven companies were shortlisted for the initial price bid opening under the scheme. The shortlisted bidders included Adani Energy Solutions Limited, Dilip Buildcon Limited, Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon Private Limited, H.G. Infra Engineering Limited, IndiGrid 2 Private Limited, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, and Resonia Limited.
Transmission portfolio expansion
The project marks HG Infra’s second ISTS-TBCB transmission project win.
The company entered the transmission development segment in July 2025 after acquiring Angul Sundargarh Transmission Limited, an interstate transmission project in Odisha.
In addition to interstate transmission projects, the company is also set to secure an intrastate TBCB transmission scheme in Uttar Pradesh.
