CG Power commissions new EHV switchgear plant in Nashik
CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited has commissioned a new extra high-voltage (EHV) switchgear manufacturing facility at Pimpalgaon Garudeshwar in Nashik, Maharashtra, as part of its capacity expansion strategy. The new plant, designated S3 Unit-II, will manufacture EHV circuit breakers in the 33kV to 245kV range and complements the existing S3 Unit-I facility in Ambad, Nashik, which produces breakers for up to 800kV. With the addition, the company has increased its total EHV circuit breaker manufacturing capacity by 80%, raising annual output from 9,000 units to 16,200 units. Commercial production at S3 Unit-II commenced on June 4, 2026.
BHEL signs deal to supply gas turbine generators for Dangote’s Nigeria refinery
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a contract agreement with Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprise for the design, manufacturing, supply, and supervision of erection and commissioning of eight gas turbine generator packages in Nigeria. The order, valued between Rs 2,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore, will support a petroleum refinery and polypropylene plant located in the Dangote Industries Free Zone, Nigeria. The scope excludes civil works and includes delivery up to Mumbai Port along with performance guarantee tests. The agreement was signed on June 2, 2026, and the project is scheduled for completion within 26 months from the contract start or effective date.
JCBL South delivers 1,000 containers to GE Vernova
JCBL South has manufactured and delivered 1,000 20-foot CSC Certified Containers to GE Vernova for export to the United States. The order is among JCBL South’s largest international clean energy infrastructure manufacturing projects to date and was executed for GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions business. The containers were manufactured to house Flex Inverter systems used in Hybrid Renewable Power Stations. The company established a dedicated production line for the project and executed the full scope in-house, including design, fabrication, assembly, painting, testing, and dispatch.
ACME Solar raises Rs 2,800 crore through QIP
ACME Solar Holdings Limited has completed a qualified institutions placement (QIP) of equity shares, raising around Rs 2,800 crore. The company allotted 10,01,78,890 equity shares with a face value of Rs 2 each at an issue price of Rs 279.50 per share, including a premium of Rs 277.50 per share. The issue price reflected a discount of Rs 14.63, or 4.97% of the floor price, under Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) ICDR Regulations. The QIP opened on June 1, 2026, and closed on June 4, 2026.
NTPC, UPRVUNL sign pact for Meja Stage-II expansion
NTPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) have signed a Supplementary Joint Venture Agreement (SJVA)-III for Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (MUNPL). The agreement incorporates provisions related to the enhancement of Meja Stage-II capacity from 2×660 MW to 3×800 MW into the original Joint Venture Agreement. The signing took place in Lucknow in the presence of senior officials from NTPC, UPRVUNL, and MUNPL. In May 2026, the Uttar Pradesh government approved the expansion project in Prayagraj district involving an estimated investment of around Rs 33,000 crore.
Bajaj Electricals to enter cables business
Bajaj Electricals Limited has decided to enter the cables category as a new business line under its existing Lighting Solutions segment. The company said the move was driven by growing demand in the cables industry and operations in the product category are expected to commence shortly. According to the company, investment size will be evaluated based on market opportunities, anticipated scale of operations, and business requirements. Bajaj Electricals also reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 67.53 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, compared with a profit of Rs 59.05 crore a year earlier.
GameChange Energy faces patent lawsuit from Nextpower
GameChange Energy said it will defend itself against patent infringement allegations filed by Nextpower Inc. in a United States federal court. Nextpower alleged that GameChange infringed three patents related to its self-powered solar tracker technology and TrueCapture energy management control system through its Genius Tracker products and associated software. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware and seeks injunctive relief and monetary damages. Separately, the company announced its rebranding from GameChange Solar to GameChange Energy to consolidate its solar tracker, eBOS, transformer, and remote asset-monitoring businesses under a single brand.
