CG Power commissions new EHV switchgear plant in Nashik

CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited has commissioned a new extra high-voltage (EHV) switchgear manufacturing facility at Pimpalgaon Garudeshwar in Nashik, Maharashtra, as part of its capacity expansion strategy.

The new plant, designated S3 Unit-II, will manufacture EHV circuit breakers in the 33kV to 245kV range. It complements the existing S3 Unit-I facility in Ambad, Nashik, which produces breakers for up to 800kV. With the addition, the company has increased its total EHV circuit breaker manufacturing capacity by 80%, raising annual output from 9,000 units to 16,200 units.

Facility details

The facility includes 500kV and 350kV high-voltage testing laboratories. According to the company, the plant is intended to cater to domestic and export demand from utilities, railways, renewable energy projects, oil and gas sectors, and transmission infrastructure developers.

The plant has been developed with energy-efficient systems, rainwater harvesting, water recycling, and zero liquid discharge operations.

Amar Kaul, Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of CG Power, said the commissioning reflects the company’s expectation of higher demand from grid expansion, renewable energy integration, and infrastructure development.

Project background

The company had announced the greenfield switchgear project on October 29, 2025, with an estimated project cost of around Rs 748.20 crore, net of taxes. The project was planned across 35 acres with a built-up area of about 72,000 square metres and an expected completion timeline of 33 months.

Commercial production at S3 Unit-II commenced on June 4, 2026.

Capacity addition

Under its disclosure pursuant to Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Listing Regulations, 2015, the company stated that the existing S3 Unit-I facility has an annual manufacturing capacity of 9,000 EHV circuit breakers in the 33kV to 800kV range, with capacity utilisation at around 85%.

The newly added S3 Unit-II facility contributes an additional annual capacity of 7,200 units for EHV circuit breakers in the 33kV to 245kV range, along with 500kV and 350kV high-voltage testing laboratories.

The company said the project involved an investment of Rs 39.49 crore and was funded through internal accruals. The rationale for the expansion was cited as strong demand and capacity constraints at the existing facility.

Financial performance

CG Power reported higher earnings for Q4 FY26. Consolidated net profit rose 33.4% year-on-year to Rs 365.5 crore from Rs 274 crore. Revenue increased 25% to Rs 3,441.8 crore from Rs 2,752 crore.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 34.5% to Rs 466.6 crore from Rs 345.8 crore. EBITDA margin improved to 13.5% from 12.6%.
