CCI dismisses complaint over SECI solar tender
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has closed proceedings against Adani Green Energy, Azure Power, and SECI over alleged anti-competitive practices linked to the 7 GW solar manufacturing-linked tender. In its order dated April 16, 2026, the Commission said it found no prima facie evidence of contravention under the Competition Act, 2002. It rejected claims that the RfS structure favoured large bidders or enabled proxy participation by Azure Power for Adani Group. The CCI stated that the tender aligned with government policy to boost domestic manufacturing and that SECI’s procurement design, including the “Green Shoe Option,” was valid. The case was closed under Section 26(2), with the original tender awarding capacity at Rs 2.92/kWh.
AEC clears draft FDI policy for nuclear sector under SHANTI Act
The Atomic Energy Commission has approved a draft foreign direct investment policy framework for the nuclear power sector under the SHANTI Act, 2025. The proposal will move to inter-ministerial consultations before finalisation. The framework aims to enable private and foreign investment in a sector historically under state control. India has set a target of 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047, requiring significant capital. The AEC also highlighted a “fleet mode” approach to standardise project development and reduce costs and timelines.
SWREL wins Rs 3,550 crore solar EPC orders, including Coal India project
Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited has secured domestic orders worth about Rs 3,550 crore, including a major contract from Coal India Limited. The company is the L1 bidder for a turnkey EPC contract for an 875 MW AC solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, valued at around Rs 3,490 crore including O&M and taxes. It has also won a 50 MW AC solar project in Maharashtra from a private IPP. With these orders, its FY26 EPC inflow has crossed Rs 10,062 crore. The company stated that the orders were secured in the normal course of business.
Adani Power sets up new nuclear-focused subsidiary CMAEL
Adani Power Limited has incorporated Coastal-Maha Atomic Energy Limited (CMAEL) as a wholly owned step-down subsidiary under Adani Atomic Energy Limited. The entity was incorporated on April 13, 2026, with certification received on April 18, 2026. CMAEL will focus on generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity from nuclear sources. It has an authorised capital of Rs 5 lakh, fully subscribed by AAEL. The move reflects the group’s expanding structure for potential nuclear energy initiatives.
Shakti Pumps invests Rs 24 crore in solar cell and module plant
Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has invested Rs 24 crore in its subsidiary, Shakti Energy Solutions Limited, for a new solar manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh. The company infused Rs 17 crore on April 17, 2026, and Rs 7 crore on April 18, 2026. The plant at Pithampur will produce Solar DCR cells and PV modules with a capacity of 2.20 GW. SESL reported a turnover of Rs 216.53 crore in FY25. The investment supports expansion across the renewable value chain and does not require regulatory approvals.
BHEL withdraws LOI for Anuppur project
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has withdrawn its acceptance of the LOI from MB Power (Madhya Pradesh) Limited for the 1×800 MW Anuppur Thermal Power Project. The LOI, accepted on September 3, 2025, could not be converted into a formal contract within the stipulated timeline. BHEL reported FY26 turnover of about Rs 32,350 crore, up 18% year-on-year. Order inflows reached around Rs 75,000 crore, with an order book of about Rs 2.4 lakh crore. The company commissioned or synchronised about 8.9 GW of power capacity during the year.
NGEL commissions 87.5 MW of Rajasthan solar project
NTPC Green Energy Limited has commissioned 87.50 MW of a 150 MW solar project in Rajasthan, effective April 19, 2026. The project is linked to Project Eleven Renewable Power Private Limited under ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited. NGEL Group’s total operational renewable capacity has increased from 10,276.40 MW to 10,363.90 MW. The commissioning aligns with ongoing capacity expansion plans. The remaining capacity is yet to be operationalised.
MoP extends RCO compliance deadline for FY25 to May 31, 2026
The Ministry of Power has extended the deadline for Renewable Consumption Obligation compliance submission for FY25 to May 31, 2026. The extension follows requests from Designated Consumers routed through the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. Entities had cited difficulties in meeting the original timeline. The extension provides an additional two months for submission. The decision has been approved by the competent authority.
Ganesh Green Bharat secures Rs 430 crore solar module supply order
Ganesh Green Bharat Ltd has secured a domestic order worth over Rs 430 crore for supplying 630 Wp G12R TOPCon n-type bifacial modules. The modules are intended for utility-scale solar projects and will be manufactured using automated lines. The company operates a 1.1 GW facility in Mehsana and is expanding capacity. The order supports its focus on advanced module technologies. No additional project details were disclosed.
Onix Solar plans Rs 130 crore rights issue
Onix Solar Energy Limited has approved raising up to Rs 130 crore through a rights issue of equity shares. The decision was taken on April 17, 2026, with shares of face value Rs 10 each. The issue is subject to regulatory approvals under SEBI ICDR Regulations, 2018 and the Companies Act, 2013. A Rights Issue Committee has been formed to finalise terms. The company operates 1200 MW cell and 1200 MW module manufacturing lines and is developing over 500 MW under MSKVY 2.0.
Orient Green unit signs Rs 8.61 crore wind turbine supply deal
Orient Green Power Company Limited’s subsidiary Clarion Wind Farm Private Limited has signed a contract with Pioneer Wincon Energy Systems Pvt Limited. The agreement covers two P57-750 KW wind turbine generators with a combined capacity of 1.5 MW. The turbines will be used for repowering a wind farm in Devarkulam, Tamil Nadu. The contract is valued at Rs 8.61 crore including GST. Execution is scheduled within ten weeks.
ACME Solar unit commissions 16 MW wind project in Gujarat
ACME Solar Holdings Limited has commissioned a 16 MW wind project in Gujarat through its subsidiary ACME Eco Clean Energy Private Limited. The commissioning certificate was issued by Gujarat Energy Development Agency on April 16, 2026. The project spans multiple villages in Surendranagar district. The capacity is now operational. It adds to the company’s renewable portfolio in western India.
