SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited, has started commercial operations for 80.77 MW capacity under Phase-II of its 1,000 MW solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. With this, a total of 400.77 MW has now been commissioned.
The project is being implemented by Tata Power Solar Systems Limited on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis. The total cost of the 1,000 MW solar power project stands at Rs 54.92 billion.
The project falls under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme Phase-II, which targets 12,000 MW of grid-connected solar capacity. It is being developed on a build, own and operate (BOO) basis with viability gap funding (VGF) support.
SGEL expects to complete the full 1,000 MW by September 2025.
The electricity generated will be supplied under Power Usage Agreements (PUAs) to three utilities: Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), Jammu and Kashmir Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL), and Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited (RUVITL).
