GAIL signs pact for 600 MW solar project with BESS in Jhansi

GAIL (India) Limited has signed contract agreements with TUSCO Limited for developing a 600 MW solar power project at TUSCO’s Solar Park in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The project will include a 550 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to support reliable power supply for GAIL’s petrochemical plant at Pata in Auraiya district and future demand from Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants. The total project cost is estimated at Rs 3,294.86 crore, with completion targeted within 15 months from EPC contract award. The agreements were executed on April 15, 2026.

NTPC Green to commission 150 MW solar capacity in Rajasthan

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has announced that 150 MW of solar capacity from a 300 MW solar project in Rajasthan will commence commercial operations from April 18, 2026. The capacity belongs to Project Sixteen Renewable Power Private Limited, a step-down subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited. Following this addition, the NGEL Group’s commercial capacity will rise from 10,126.40 MW to 10,276.40 MW. The disclosure was made under SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.

Waaree Renewable Technologies doubles revenue, profit in FY26

Waaree Renewable Technologies Limited (WRTL) reported FY26 revenue from operations of Rs 3,331.42 crore, up 108.51% from Rs 1,597.75 crore in FY25. Profit After Tax (PAT) rose 109.09% to Rs 478.65 crore, while EBITDA increased 106.21% to Rs 641.10 crore. The company’s unexecuted EPC order book stands at 2.83 GWp, with a bidding pipeline exceeding 36 GWp. WRTL said growth was driven by disciplined execution and strong solar demand.

THDCIL lowers Unit-1 stator at VPHEP ahead of commissioning

THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has lowered the fully assembled stator of Unit-1 at the (4×111) MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) on April 15, 2026. The company said the development marks a key milestone and moves the project closer to commissioning. The stator is a major hydro generator component that houses windings used for power generation through electromagnetic induction. Senior officials including CMD Sh. Sipan Kumar Garg attended the milestone event virtually.

Polaris raises Rs 710 crore from BII for West Bengal smart meters

Polaris Smart Metering Private Limited has secured financing of Rs 710 crore, or around $80 million, from British International Investment (BII) for subsidiary Hooghly Smart Metering Private Limited. The funds will support deployment of more than 2.2 million smart meters across West Bengal. Polaris said its order book stands at about $1.1 billion, covering 7.5 million electric meters across Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Manipur. The company also operates 1.6 million smart gas meters.

BEE proposes annual energy audits for DISCOMs

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has issued draft regulations proposing annual energy audits and quarterly energy accounting reports for DISCOMs designated as consumers under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001. The draft was published in the Gazette of India on April 15, 2026. Annual audit reports would be submitted within four months of each financial year-end, while quarterly reports would be due within 45 days of each quarter. The framework would replace BEE’s 2021 notification and 2022 amendment.

Pace Digitek reports Rs 64,597 million FY26 order inflow

Pace Digitek Limited has reported total FY26 order inflow of Rs 64,597 million, led by the energy segment with Rs 58,147 million. The telecom segment contributed Rs 6,450 million. Energy orders included BOO contracts of Rs 24,550 million, EPC contracts of Rs 30,484 million, and supply contracts of Rs 3,114 million. The company said demand was supported by Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and renewable infrastructure opportunities.

Crompton Greaves wins Rs 71.75 crore MSEDCL solar pump order

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited has received a rate contract from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) worth about Rs 71.75 crore, excluding GST. The order covers 3,540 off-grid DC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems across Maharashtra under MTSKPY / PM-KUSUM-B. Scope includes installation, commissioning, warranty, maintenance, and remote monitoring system integration. The project is to be completed within 60 days from issuance of the work order.

PTC India appoints Sukhdev Singh as Non-Executive Chairman

PTC India Limited has approved the appointment of Shri Sukhdev Singh as Non-Executive Chairman, effective after consent from CMDs of all four promoter companies. He will serve until November 10, 2028, the end of his tenure as Independent Director. The board had earlier decided to split the combined Chairman and Managing Director role into separate positions. Shri Singh is a retired 1987-batch IAS officer and former Chief Secretary of Jharkhand.

SWELECT commissions 110/33 kV pooling substation in Tamil Nadu

SWELECT Energy Systems Limited has commissioned a 110/33 kV Pooling Substation at Sirungattur in Tiruvannamalai district, Tamil Nadu. The facility was energised and brought into operation on April 16, 2026. It includes a 1 x 50 MVA, 110/33 kV power transformer and will provide evacuation infrastructure for a 50 MW solar power project in the Villupuram Operation Circle. The company disclosed the development through a stock exchange filing.
