THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has lowered the fully assembled stator of Unit-1 at the (4×111) MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) on April 15, 2026. The development marks a key construction milestone and advances the project towards commissioning.
The milestone was virtually attended by Sh. Sipan Kumar Garg, Chairman & Managing Director, THDCIL, who acknowledged the project team’s efforts. He stated that the progress reflects THDCIL’s continued focus on sustainable hydropower development and its role in supporting a reliable and clean energy supply for India’s energy security.
The hydro generator, a core electromechanical component, comprises two main parts: the stator (stationary component) and the rotor (rotating component). The stator houses the windings where electricity is generated through electromagnetic induction, making its installation a critical step in project execution.
Sh. Kumar Sharad, Executive Director (ED) (Projects), said the milestone demonstrates strong coordination and technical execution by the VPHEP team. Sh. Ajay Verma, Chief General Manager (CGM) (VPHEP), acknowledged the guidance and support provided by THDCIL leadership.

Passivation technology improves solar cell performance by covering surface defects. Higher efficiency can reduce space and costs for solar installations. Professor Martin Green, a solar expert, noted that efficiency is essential for the future of solar technology, with costs typically decreasing…
Author: PPD Team Date: February 17, 2025 According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global electricity demand is projected to grow by 4% each year until 2027, equating to more than Japan’s total consumption. This growth will be primarily offset by the expansion of low-emissions energy sources, such as renewables and nuclear power. Emerging and developing economies will account for 85% of this demand growth, with China leading the charge. China’s power demand is expected…
