ACME Solar commissions 2.29 GWh BESS capacity in FY27 to date
ACME Solar Holdings Limited has commissioned approximately 2.29 GWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity during the current financial year to date, taking its total operational storage capacity to approximately 3.62 GWh across three project sites in Rajasthan. The company said the latest additions represent one of the fastest scale-ups of BESS deployment in India. Its operational portfolio currently comprises 2,990 MW of contracted generation capacity alongside 3.62 GWh of BESS, with 5,080 MW of contracted capacity under construction. On July 22, ACME Suryodaya Private Limited commissioned 160.512 MWh of BESS capacity in Rajasthan.
Bondada receives CEA approval for 300 MW Khavda solar project
Bondada Engineering Limited has received approval for energisation from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) for a 300 MW grid-connected solar power project at Khavda, Gujarat. The project is being executed on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis for NLC India Renewables Limited. The approval clears the project for energisation and enables the addition of 300 MW of solar capacity to the national grid. The project forms part of the ongoing renewable energy build-out at Khavda and follows Bondada’s Notification of Award (NOA) from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited for a 100 MWh Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Energy Storage System (VRFB BESS) at Khavda Solar Park.
Rajesh Pandey assumes charge as DVC’s 51st Chairman
Shri Rajesh Pandey, IAS, assumed charge as the 51st Chairman of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) on July 23, 2026. He brings nearly 31 years of experience in the civil services across the power sector, public administration, consumer affairs, industry and cooperative governance. Prior to joining DVC, he served as Additional Chief Secretary in the Government of West Bengal and previously held leadership roles at West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL), West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (WBSETCL), and New Town Electric Supply Co. Ltd. (NTESCL). Pandey holds a B.Tech. (Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, and a Master’s in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
Kalpataru energises 101.39 km transmission lines in Rajasthan
Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL) has completed the charging and energisation of the WO-467A2/B2/E3 transmission project in Rajasthan, comprising 765 kV and 400 kV double-circuit (D/C) loop-in loop-out (LILO) transmission lines with a combined length of 101.39 km. The 765 kV D/C LILO transmission line, spanning 68.30 km, was energised on July 23, 2026, while the 400 kV D/C LILO transmission line, measuring 33.09 km, was energised on April 3, 2026. The charging and energisation activities were completed without any observations, with all system parameters operating within the prescribed limits. The project forms part of the transmission network in the Northern Region and supports power transfer capabilities in Rajasthan.
Bihar seeks developers to build pumped storage projects statewide
The Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) has invited Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the establishment of closed-loop off-stream pumped storage projects (PSPs) across Bihar. The EOI is open to projects with a minimum installed capacity of 25 MW, with developers required to identify sites and undertake all associated studies and statutory clearances. BSPGCL has already allocated the 920 MW / 7,324 MWh Gosaitari Pumped Storage Project and the 1,200 MW / 7,308 MWh Ekamba Pumped Storage Project in Nawada district. Developers must submit proposals by July 1, 2026, at 18:00 hours, with bids scheduled to open on July 2, 2026, at 16:00 hours.
NABARD, MAHAPREIT partner to finance rural green infrastructure
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited (MAHAPREIT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support financing and development of green and climate-resilient infrastructure in rural India. The partnership will initially focus on Maharashtra, targeting villages, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and community-level infrastructure projects. Priority areas include green energy deployment, decarbonisation of government buildings, gram panchayat infrastructure, and water pumping schemes. The collaboration will also support biogas, bioenergy and solar-powered micro cold storage projects.
Adani Green posts Rs 983 crore profit in Q1 as capacity crosses 20 GW
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) reported a profit of Rs 983 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, while total income stood at Rs 4,663 crore. Profit increased 91.25% quarter-on-quarter from Rs 514 crore and 19.30% year-on-year from Rs 824 crore. AGEL’s operational capacity rose 27% year-on-year to 20,142 MW following the commissioning of 4,327 MW over the past 12 months, including 848 MW during the June quarter. The company also commissioned 1,972 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) capacity during Q1 FY27, taking cumulative installed storage capacity to 3,551 MWh.
NTPC Green commissions 64.76 MW at Khavda
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has declared the commercial operation of 64.76 MW, the first part capacity of the 225 MW GSECL RE Park, Khavda Solar PV Project in Gujarat, effective from 00:00 hours on July 24, 2026. The commissioning takes the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy group to 10,786.56 MW. NGEL reported revenue from operations of Rs 1,106.86 crore in June 2026, up 21.28% from the March 2026 quarter and 62.72% year-on-year. Net profit for June 2026 stood at Rs 304.84 crore, an increase of 54.61% quarter-on-quarter and 38.26% year-on-year.
IEX reports 11.7% rise in Q1 profit as electricity volumes grow
Indian Energy Exchange Limited (IEX) reported a consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 134.8 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, up 11.7% from Rs 120.7 crore in Q1 FY26. Consolidated revenue increased 10.1% year-on-year to Rs 202.8 crore, while electricity traded on the exchange reached 37.5 billion units (BUs), registering growth of 15.9%. The Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) traded 27.5 million MMBtu during Q1 FY27, while the Indian Carbon Exchange (ICX) traded 4.5 lakh International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs). IGX also filed its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) for an initial public offering (IPO) on July 14, 2026.
Indosolar reports Rs 68.36 crore revenue in Q1 amid business shift
Indosolar Limited reported revenue from operations of Rs 68.36 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with Rs 194.68 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. EBITDA stood at Rs 48.46 crore, while EBITDA margin increased to 70.89% from 32.65% in Q1 FY26. Profit after tax (PAT) was reported at Rs 36.62 crore, down from Rs 116.79 crore a year earlier. The company produced 224 MW of solar modules during the quarter and recorded module sales of 218 MW.
Waaree Solar Americas secures 125 MW HJT module supply order
Waaree Solar Americas, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Limited, has secured an order for the supply of 125 MW of Heterojunction Technology (HJT) solar modules from an international customer. The order has been placed by an international entity engaged in owning and operating utility-scale renewable energy projects, with supplies scheduled during FY 2026-27. The contract covers the supply of the company’s HJT solar modules designed to improve module efficiency and energy output. The customer has not been identified, but Waaree stated that it is a reputed international renewable energy developer with a portfolio of utility-scale projects.
