Coal India to invest Rs 1,900 crore in R&D by FY2030

Coal India Limited (CIL) plans to invest approximately Rs 1,900 crore in research and development (R&D) by the end of FY2030. The company’s R&D expenditure increased four-fold to Rs 245 crore in FY2024-25 from Rs 61 crore in the previous fiscal year following the establishment of the National Centre for Coal and Energy Research (NaCCER). CIL has also established three Centres of Excellence (CoE) at IIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. At present, 19 R&D projects worth Rs 225 crore and 13 CoE projects are under implementation.

GRE Renew bags Rs 175 crore solar EPC order from Solarium

GRE Renew Enertech Limited has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from Solarium Green Energy Limited for a utility-scale ground-mounted solar photovoltaic project. The contract, valued at Rs 175 crore excluding applicable taxes, covers EPC works for an approximately 50 MW AC / 65 MW DC solar project and three years of Operation and Maintenance (O&M). The total value includes Rs 170 crore for EPC works and Rs 5 crore for O&M services. The company stated that the transaction is not a related-party transaction.

NTPC completes 15 MW Bhilai floating solar power project

NTPC Limited has declared the commercial operation of the final 5 MW module of the Bhilai Floating Solar Power Station, completing the 15 MW project. The final module, commissioned on June 24, 2026, comprises two 2.5 MW units known as Island-2 and has been implemented through NTPC-SAIL Power Company Limited (NSPCL). Following the commissioning, the NTPC group’s total installed capacity has reached 90,904 MW. Its commercial capacity has increased to 89,824 MW.

PGCIL, H.G. Infra acquire WR-ER transmission SPVs from RECPDCL

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) and H.G. Infra Engineering Limited have acquired project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) after emerging as successful bidders under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process. PGCIL acquired WR ER Part A Power Transmission Limited for approximately Rs 18.62 crore, while H.G. Infra Engineering Limited acquired WR ER Part C Power Transmission Limited. Both acquisitions were completed on June 30, 2026. REC Limited confirmed that both SPVs ceased to be subsidiaries of RECPDCL and REC with effect from June 30, 2026.

NCLAT sets aside insolvency proceedings against Vikram Solar

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has set aside the corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) initiated against Vikram Solar Limited, overturning the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Kolkata Bench order dated June 12, 2026. The case related to unpaid dues of Rs 91,98,556 claimed by Isitva Steels Private Limited. The appellate tribunal quashed the insolvency proceedings after both parties agreed that the debt was below the Rs 1 crore threshold under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). Vikram Solar stated that it continues to operate normally and reported FY26 revenue of Rs 4,802.25 crore with a profit after tax of Rs 470.42 crore.

Ravindra Energy invests Rs 150 crore in Energy In Motion

Ravindra Energy Limited has invested approximately Rs 150 crore in its associate company, Energy In Motion Limited (EIM), through a rights issue. The company subscribed to 45,67,463 equity shares at Rs 328.41 per share, increasing its shareholding from 49.5% to 49.54%. The investment will be used to repay inter-corporate deposits borrowed by EIM from Golden Green Innovations Private Limited. EIM provides integrated electric mobility solutions for heavy-duty electric trucks supported by battery-swapping and charging infrastructure.

ACME Solar commissions 240 MWh BESS project in Rajasthan

ACME Solar Holdings Limited (ASHL), through ACME Suryodaya Private Limited, has commissioned a 240.720 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project at Sanwara and Mehar Nagar villages in Pokhran tehsil, Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan. The project was commissioned on June 30, 2026, with its commercial operation date scheduled for July 2, 2026. Following the latest commissioning, ACME Suryodaya’s commissioned BESS capacity has reached 285 MW / 842.624 MWh. The company had earlier commissioned additional BESS capacities of 33.331 MW / 120.384 MWh and 33.333 MW / 160.512 MWh in Rajasthan.

Adani Green commissions 156 MW RE and 185 MWh BESS at Khavda

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has commercially operationalised 156 MW of renewable energy capacity and 185 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity at Khavda, Gujarat. The projects were declared commercially operational at 10:15 p.m. on June 30, 2026. Following the commissioning, AGEL’s total operational renewable energy generation capacity has increased to 20,141.80 MW. Its total operational BESS capacity has reached 3,551 MWh.

Adani Green becomes first Indian renewable energy firm to cross 20 GW operational capacity

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has become the first renewable energy company in India to cross 20 GW of operational renewable energy capacity, reaching 20,141.80 MW along with 3.55 GWh of BESS capacity. The company added 5,051 MW during FY26 and currently operates approximately 14.2 GW of solar, 2.7 GW of wind and 3.3 GW of wind-solar hybrid capacity. Its portfolio generates more than 52 billion units of electricity annually, equivalent to nearly 3% of India’s electricity consumption. AGEL plans to commission 10 GWh of battery storage during FY27 and expand its BESS portfolio to 50 GWh over the next five years.

China deploys world’s first 16 MW tension-leg floating offshore wind platform

China has deployed the world’s first 16 MW tension-leg floating offshore wind platform, which departed Gaolan Port in Zhuhai, Guangdong, on June 28, 2026, for deployment near the Lufeng oilfield cluster in the South China Sea. The platform stands more than 307 metres tall and weighs nearly 8,000 tonnes. It is expected to generate around 54 million kWh of electricity annually while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 35,000 tonnes per year. The project integrates floating offshore wind power with offshore oil and gas operations.
