SPML Infra wins Rs 165.4 crore RRVPNL transmission project in Rajasthan
SPML Infra Limited has secured a Rs 165.41 crore contract from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RRVPNL) for the construction of a 400 kV grid substation and transmission infrastructure at Dahra in Kota, Rajasthan. The project is scheduled for completion within 24 months and adds to the company’s portfolio in the high-voltage power transmission segment.
Rajasthan remains one of India’s largest renewable energy-producing states, increasing the need for stronger transmission infrastructure to support the evacuation and flow of conventional and renewable power across the grid network. The project is aimed at strengthening the state’s high-voltage transmission system.
The scope of work includes the supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a 400 kV grid substation at Dahra with one 500 MVA autotransformer bay. The contract also covers a 420 kV, 1×125 MVAR bus-type shunt reactor bay, two 400 kV feeder bays, three 400 kV tie bays, and associated civil works, automation and communication systems.
Abhinandan Sethi, Managing Director of SPML Infra, said Rajasthan is playing a key role in India’s energy transition and added that the company would continue supporting the expansion of power infrastructure through its execution capabilities and sector experience.
The order strengthens SPML Infra’s power business and complements its battery energy storage system (BESS) operations. Earlier this month, the company secured a Rs 1,128 crore contract from NTPC Limited for the development of a 1 GWh BESS project at the Barauni Thermal Power Station in Bihar. The project marked SPML Infra’s entry into large-scale grid-connected battery storage and was among the largest single BESS orders in India.
