Sterlite Electric exports first 220 kV power cable order to Sri Lanka
Sterlite Electric has flagged off its first export order for 220 kV power cables to Sri Lanka.
The order comprises single-core (1C) 630 sqmm cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE)-insulated power cables for a substation project in Colombo. The cables are being supplied to National Transmission Network Service Provider Pvt. Ltd. (NTNSP), formerly known as the Ceylon Electricity Board.
Supply for Colombo substation project
The export order is intended for a transmission substation project in Colombo and marks Sterlite Electric’s entry into the Sri Lankan extra high voltage (EHV) cable market.
The supply includes 220 kV XLPE-insulated power cables designed for transmission network applications.
Expansion of export business
The company said the order reflects its growing presence in the EHV cable segment and its efforts to expand its international power cable business. The export also marks the addition of Sri Lanka to Sterlite Electric’s overseas markets for power transmission products.
Demand for high-voltage and EHV cables has been increasing as utilities and transmission network operators expand and modernise power infrastructure.
The Sri Lanka order supports transmission network development while strengthening Sterlite Electric’s presence in regional export markets.
