Prototype wind turbines can now sell power to DISCOMs under revised MNRE rules
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has amended the Revised Guidelines for Installation of Prototype Wind Turbine Models issued on June 12, 2025. The revised provisions allow scheduled power generated from up to three prototype wind turbines for each model to be purchased by distribution companies (DISCOMs) or any other entity at a mutually agreed tariff or at a tariff regulated by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) or the concerned State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC). The Ministry has also replaced the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM) reference with the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for wind, making ALMM inclusion mandatory before installation of prototype wind turbines. All other provisions of the June 12, 2025 guidelines remain unchanged.
Suzlon secures 400 MW wind EPC order from Tata Power Renewables
Suzlon Energy Limited has secured a 400 MW engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) for a wind power project in Andhra Pradesh. The project in Anantapur district will be developed under Suzlon’s DevCo-led business model and will deploy 127 units of the company’s 3.15 MW S144 wind turbine generators. Suzlon’s scope includes land acquisition, wind turbine supply, Balance of Plant (BoP), pooling substation (PSS), extra high voltage (EHV) transmission line, commissioning, and operations and maintenance (O&M). The order takes the cumulative partnership between the two companies to more than 1 GW across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Servotech’s 60 kW, 120 kW EV chargers receive BEE 5-Star rating
Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd. has received a 5-Star rating from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) for its 60 kW and 120 kW DC Fast EV Chargers under the EV Charger Star Labelling Programme. The certified ST-EVDC60KW and ST-EVDC120KW models achieved a weighted average energy efficiency of 97%. The company said the certification is expected to improve charging efficiency, reduce operating costs and strengthen its position in government, PSU, oil marketing company (OMC), commercial and fleet charging projects.
EAC backs expansion of Dikchu hydro project to 110 MW in Sikkim
The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) has recommended environmental clearance for expanding the Dikchu Hydroelectric Project in Sikkim from 96 MW to 110 MW. The expansion will add 14 MW without additional land acquisition, new civil construction, fresh forest diversion or hydro-mechanical modifications, using higher-than-expected river inflows recorded since 2018. The upgraded project is expected to increase annual design energy generation to 455.44 MU. The committee also prescribed conditions including Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) assessments, wildlife conservation measures and community development initiatives.
Juniper commissions India’s largest wind turbine
Juniper Green Energy has commissioned what it describes as India’s largest wind turbine by rotor diameter and added 82 MW of wind capacity across Rajasthan and Gujarat. The project uses Envision’s EN-182 wind turbine generator with a capacity of 5 MW and a rotor diameter of 181 metres. The installations were completed across Barmer district in Rajasthan and the Surendranagar and Rajkot districts of Gujarat as of June 22, 2026. The company said the projects will improve energy yield and operational efficiency.
Uttar Pradesh to buy power from NHPC’s 260 MW Dulhasti hydro project in J&K
NHPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for electricity from the 260 MW Dulhasti Stage-II Hydroelectric Project in Jammu & Kashmir. The agreement provides for power supply to Uttar Pradesh for 40 years from the Commercial Operation Date (COD). Construction of the project commenced in May 2026 in Kishtwar district, with works inaugurated on May 27, 2026. The agreement was signed in Lucknow on June 24, 2026.
CtrlS signs MoU with Suzlon for up to 250 MW wind power projects
CtrlS Datacenters has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Suzlon Energy Limited to develop wind power projects of up to 250 MW in Maharashtra. The renewable energy generated will supply CtrlS’ data centre operations. Suzlon will provide wind turbine supply, project development and long-term operations and maintenance services. CtrlS said the partnership supports its target of sourcing 100% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030.
Accord Transformer gets UGVCL vendor approval for distribution transformers in Gujarat
Accord Transformer & Switchgear Limited has received vendor registration approval from Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL) for manufacturing and supplying 500 kVA, 11/0.415 kV Level-1 CRGO Copper Wound Distribution Transformers. The registration is valid for five years and enables participation in tenders floated by UGVCL and other Gujarat power utilities. Separately, the company has received a Rs 47 lakh purchase order from Sunsure Energy Private Limited for supplying 150 kVA and 500 kVA auxiliary transformers for solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Rajasthan. The order is scheduled to be executed within three months.
Waaree Energies winds up dormant Australian subsidiary
Waaree Energies Limited has announced the deregistration of its wholly owned subsidiary, Waaree Renewable Energies Australia PTY Limited, with effect from June 10, 2026. The company received formal confirmation on June 24, 2026, after which the Australian entity ceased to be its subsidiary. Waaree said the company was dormant and did not contribute revenue, income or net worth during FY 2025-26. No consideration was received as part of the deregistration.
Global spent nuclear fuel inventory reaches 448,000 tonnes: IAEA
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has launched an interactive inventory showing that nuclear reactors worldwide have generated an estimated 448,000 tonnes of spent nuclear fuel. Around 322,000 tonnes remain in storage, while approximately 126,000 tonnes have been reprocessed for potential reuse. The inventory shows that 41% of spent fuel is stored in wet storage systems and 31% in dry storage facilities. The tool provides country-wise and regional data on spent fuel inventories and storage methods.
Adani targets 10 GW nuclear power capacity by 2035
Adani Group has announced its entry into the nuclear energy sector through Adani Atomic Energy with a target of developing 10 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2035. Chairman Gautam Adani said land has already been identified for the proposed projects. The group has also incorporated nuclear-focused subsidiaries, including Coastal-Maha Atomic Energy Limited and Rawatbhata-Raj Atomic Energy Limited. The initiative is aimed at supporting India’s long-term energy security and clean power requirements.
PFC appoints V. Packirisamy as Director (Commercial), Pankaj Gupta to Board
Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC) has appointed V. Packirisamy as Director (Commercial) and Pankaj Gupta as Part-time Non-Official Director on its Board. The appointments were approved by the Board on June 24, 2026, with Packirisamy assuming charge on June 2, 2026, and Gupta on June 22, 2026. Packirisamy previously served as Executive Director – Entity Appraisal & IT and has been with PFC since 1997. Gupta has been appointed for three months or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
