Uttar Pradesh to buy power from NHPC’s 260 MW Dulhasti hydro project in J&K
NHPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the supply of electricity from NHPC’s 260 MW Dulhasti Stage-II Hydroelectric Project in Jammu & Kashmir. The agreement was signed in Lucknow on June 24, 2026.
Under the agreement, UPPCL will procure power from the project for a period of 40 years from the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of the plant.

The agreement was signed by the General Manager (Commercial), NHPC and the Chief Engineer (PPA), UPPCL in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
The 260 MW Dulhasti Stage-II Hydroelectric Project is being developed in Kishtwar district of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Construction underway
NHPC commenced construction of the project in May 2026. The construction works were inaugurated on May 27, 2026, when Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC, took the first blast for the Adit to Head Race Tunnel (HRT) through the existing Adit.Â
The project is being developed in the Kishtwar district of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and will add 260 MW of hydropower capacity upon commissioning.
