NHPC inks 1,280 MW renewable power sale deal with UPPCL

On 27 November 2024, NHPC signed a power sale agreement (PSA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for the supply of 1,280 MW of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE).
The agreement, formalized in Lucknow, is part of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Renewable Energy Implementing Agency (REIA) scheme.
FDRE combines renewable energy benefits with grid stability to ensure consistent dispatch and availability.
Under the REIA scheme, SJVN acts as an intermediary procurer to facilitate renewable energy projects across India, supporting NHPC and other entities in fulfilling energy needs for state utilities.
