Texmaco completes HM systems for 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower project

Texmaco Rail and Engineering Limited has completed the erection and commissioning of Hydro Mechanical systems for the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project at the Arunachal Pradesh-Assam border. The project has an installed capacity of 2,000 MW, configured as 8 units of 250 MW each.
The project is being developed by NHPC Limited. NHPC Limited had declared the Commercial Operation Date of Unit 2, with a capacity of 250 MW, as 23 December 2025. The company has already announced the Commercial Operation Date for the first generating unit, with three additional units commissioned. The remaining four units are scheduled for phased commissioning through FY 2026-27.
Texmaco Rail and Engineering Limited served as the sole Hydro Mechanical contractor for the project. Its scope included the design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the Hydro Mechanical systems. These systems are required for unit commissioning and overall project completion.
With an installed capacity of 2,000 MW, the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project is among the largest renewable energy projects in India. The project is expected to supply power to the national grid and support the country’s clean energy objectives.
Commenting on the development, Mr Sudipta Mukherjee, Managing Director of Texmaco Rail and Engineering Limited, said the completion of the Hydro Mechanical systems marked an important milestone for the company and reflected its experience in executing large hydropower infrastructure projects.
