Suprakash Adhikari

SJVN Limited has announced that the Ministry of Power has assigned the additional charge of Director (Projects) to Suprakash Adhikari, who is currently serving as Director (Technical) at NHPC Limited.

According to the company, the appointment took effect from May 12, 2026, the date on which Adhikari assumed charge. The Ministry of Power order, issued on the same date, stated that the arrangement is effective retrospectively from August 1, 2025, for a period of one year or until a regular incumbent assumes the post or further orders are issued, whichever is earlier.

Adhikari has more than 36 years of experience in the hydropower sector, covering project development, implementation, commissioning, operation and maintenance activities. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur and joined NHPC in 1990 as a Probationary Executive in the electrical discipline.

Since taking over as Director (Technical) of NHPC on April 16, 2025, he has overseen operational performance initiatives and contributed to the design and engineering of electromechanical packages for hydroelectric and pumped storage projects.

He also serves as Chairman of Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited, a joint venture between NHPC and the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA).

SJVN further stated that the Ministry of Power has decided not to extend the tenure of Sushil Sharma as Director (Projects) beyond July 31, 2025. As a result, Sharma ceased to hold the position with effect from that date.

The company added that Adhikari is not related to any member of SJVN’s board and is not debarred by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or any other authority from holding the office of director.
