Senvion India’s 4.2M160 wind turbine model has been included in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) Wind. The list was issued on 30th December 2025.

The MNRE’s ALMM Wind framework, earlier called the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM), is intended to standardize model qualification and improve quality assurance in India’s wind sector. Recent changes to the framework also aim to promote higher levels of domestic manufacturing.

The Senvion 4.2M160 turbine has a rated capacity of 4.2 MW and a rotor diameter of 160 metres. Its approval under ALMM covers hub heights of up to 140 metres, allowing deployment in line with MNRE guidelines. The company has stated that it has already received firm orders of more than 600 MW for the 4.2M160 model, along with a three year framework agreement for 2 GW.

According to the company, the turbine has been developed for Indian operational conditions. It has localisation content exceeding 85%, with manufacturing of key components such as blades, towers, nacelles, and hubs in India. It uses ReT 78.5 metre blades with an integrated lightning protection system and can operate in temperatures of up to 45 degrees Celsius through a hybrid active passive cooling system. It also supports single blade installation to manage varied terrain conditions.

The turbine is equipped with the FleetPro Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for real time monitoring, predictive analytics, and compliance with grid and cybersecurity requirements. It also features artificial intelligence based adaptive controls designed to optimise performance in low wind environments.

Amit Kansal, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO and MD) of Senvion India, said the ALMM Wind listing of the 4.2M160 marks an important development for the company’s role in India’s manufacturing landscape, highlighting its India designed, engineered, and industrialised approach and its contribution to the domestic supply chain.
