Schneider Electric has partnered with South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) to upgrade Bihar’s power distribution network, improving reliability and efficiency.

As part of the project, Schneider Electric has set up a Command and Control Center and a Disaster Recovery Center, enabling real-time grid monitoring and better decision-making. The deployment also includes 305 Ring Main Units (RMUs) to strengthen power distribution and 550 Fault Passage Indicators (FPIs) on overhead lines to improve fault detection and response times.

With Bihar’s increasing energy demand, SBPDCL faced challenges in ensuring a stable power supply. Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Grid solutions played a crucial role in addressing these issues, allowing 24×7 operational monitoring and enhanced power management.

The impact has been significant—power reliability has increased by 90%, while energy consumption and cost savings have improved by 80% and 60%, respectively. Additionally, engineering cost and time optimization have improved by 70%, boosting overall efficiency.

Deepak Sharma, Zone President, Greater India, and MD & CEO of Schneider Electric India, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable and energy-efficient solutions. “Our partnership with SBPDCL reflects our mission to empower utilities with smart, scalable, and future-ready power distribution systems, supporting South Bihar’s economic and infrastructure growth,” he said.
