SJVN Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Chhattisgarh to develop an 1,800 MW pumped hydro storage project (PSP) at Kotpali, with an estimated investment of Rs 95 billion.Â
Located in the Balrampur district, the off-stream closed-loop Kotpali PSP will have an installed capacity of 1,800 MW, generating approximately 3,967 million units (MU) of energy annually. The project is expected to create 5,000 direct and indirect jobs during its development phase.Â
In December 2024, SJVN signed an MoU with the Government of Bihar (GoB) to set up the 1,000 MW Hathiadah-Durgawati Pumped Storage Project (PSP) and other PSPs in Bihar. The 4×250 MW project will be developed on the Durgawati River in Kaimur, Bihar, at an estimated cost of Rs 56.63 billion
