Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd’s (POWERGRID) Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects approved two major initiatives on 26 September 2025.
The first project involves setting up a Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) communication system for grid operations across all five regions: Northern, North Eastern, Southern, Western, and Eastern. The project is estimated at Rs 209.68 crore and is scheduled for commissioning within 18 months from allocation, by 23 August 2026.
The second project relates to the disaster preparedness of transmission assets. It includes the procurement of 20 sets comprising 300 towers of the Emergency Restoration System (ERS) under the Make in India programme. The project cost is estimated at Rs 495.83 crore, with completion targeted by 19 April 2027.
