POWERGRID approves Rs 4,000 crore loan facility from SBI
The Board of Directors of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has approved a proposal to raise funds through an unsecured rupee term loan or line of credit of up to Rs 4,000 crore from State Bank of India (SBI).
The decision was taken at a Board meeting held on Wednesday, April 30, 2026. The proposed bank facility is intended to provide additional financial flexibility to support ongoing and planned capital expenditure, primarily in transmission infrastructure.
POWERGRID, a Maharatna public sector undertaking, owns and operates a large share of India’s interstate and interregional power transmission network. The company continues to expand its domestic transmission portfolio and also undertakes select international consultancy and project assignments.
The outcome of the meeting was disclosed in a regulatory filing dated April 30, 2026, to BSE Limited and National Stock Exchange of India Limited, under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
