PFCCL sets up five SPVs for REZ-linked transmission projects

PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC), has incorporated five Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) to undertake preparatory work for Independent Transmission Projects (ITPs) across multiple states, focused on evacuating power from Renewable Energy Zones (REZ).

The move follows PFCCL’s appointment as Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) by the Ministry of Power for selecting developers through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB). The newly formed SPVs and their project mandates cover key REZ-linked transmission systems.

Jam Khambhaliya REZ Transmission Limited will develop the system for integrating power from RE projects in the Jam Khambhaliya REZ Phase-II (5,500 MW) and Jamnagar Phase-I (1,000 MW) in Gujarat. Lakadia A Power Transmission Limited will handle Part A of the common transmission system for evacuating power from Lakadia Phase-II (7.5 GW), Jam Khambhaliya Phase-II (5.5 GW), and Jamnagar Phase-I (1 GW). Lakadia C Power Transmission Limited will implement Part C of the same system.

Ananthpuram Transmission Limited will oversee the system for integrating the Ananthpuram-III Pumped Storage (PS) REZ Phase-I (3 GW). Krishnagiri REZ Transmission Limited will develop the system linked to Krishnagiri REZ Phase-I.

These SPVs will carry out initial project activities, including surveys, preparation of detailed reports, initiation of land acquisition, and obtaining forest clearances where required. In line with TBCB guidelines, the SPVs will be transferred to successful bidders selected through international competitive bidding, who will execute the projects.
