MNRE adds RECPDCL, REIL as rooftop solar implementation partners

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has added REC Power Development & Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) and Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL) as Scheme Implementation Partners (SIPs) for the government building rooftop solar component under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The two CPSEs will support rooftop solar deployment on government buildings across ministries, departments, states, and Union Territories. No Central Financial Assistance (CFA) will be provided for these projects.

NHPC completes boxing-up of Unit 5 at 2,000 MW Subansiri project

NHPC Limited has completed the boxing-up of Unit 5 of the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHEP) across Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Commissioning of the 250 MW unit will increase the project’s commissioned capacity to 1,250 MW through five units. Four units are already in commercial operation with a combined capacity of 1,000 MW.

NPCIL erects reactor vessel at Kudankulam Unit 5

NPCIL has completed erection of the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) inside the reactor building of Unit 5 at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project in Tamil Nadu. The 320-tonne vessel was installed after receiving Major Equipment Erection clearance from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB). The milestone marks the start of Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) equipment erection activities for Unit 5.

Suzlon commissions India’s tallest wind turbine, the 5 MW S175 in Karnataka

Suzlon Energy Limited has commissioned its 5 MW S175 wind turbine in Karnataka’s Vijayanagar district, describing it as India’s tallest wind turbine with a 160-metre tower. Designed for Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) applications, the turbine features a 175-metre rotor and a blade tip height of 247.5 metres. The company said the platform is intended to support hybrid renewable energy projects integrating wind, solar, and BESS.

HVR Solar plans 1.2 GW TOPCon solar cell plant in Uttar Pradesh

HVR Solar has signed multiple MoUs with international technology providers and solution partners for a proposed 1.2 GW TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. The agreements cover equipment supply, utility systems, and production line integration. The company said the facility is expected to create more than 500 local jobs and strengthen domestic solar manufacturing capacity.

Ashok Leyland becomes first OEM under Delhi-NCR vehicle replacement scheme

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has signed the first MoU under the Delhi-NCR vehicle replacement scheme with Ashok Leyland and Switch Mobility. Eligible beneficiaries will receive an 8% discount on the ex-showroom price of trucks and buses, along with a 5% interest subvention and fixed monthly fuel vouchers for five years. The scheme targets replacement of BS-IV and older vehicles with BS-VI-compliant vehicles or EVs.

Bondada wins Rs 1,338 crore NTPC solar-BESS contract

Bondada Engineering Limited has secured a Rs 1,338 crore EPC contract from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited for a 250 MW Solar PV project integrated with a 50 MW/200 MWh BESS in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. The project is scheduled for completion within 18 months from the date of award. Following the order, the company’s solar EPC order book has increased to approximately 5.5 GWp.

Inox Wind signs 1,500 MW turbine supply pact with Inox Clean Energy

Inox Wind Limited has signed an MoU with Inox Clean Energy for the supply of 1,500 MW of wind turbines for renewable energy projects across India. The agreement covers the company’s 3.3 MW and 4X MW series turbines. Following the signing, Inox Wind’s order book has increased to approximately 4.5 GW from 3.1 GW.

Global firms push faster electrification amid energy security concerns

A survey of nearly 2,000 business executives across 18 countries found growing support for electrification amid geopolitical instability and volatile energy costs. Around 80% of respondents said electrification had become more urgent due to geopolitical risks, while 91% linked it to improved energy security. The survey was conducted by Public First on behalf of E3G, We Mean Business Coalition, and the Global Renewables Alliance.

NEVs dominate China’s top 10 passenger car sales in May 2026

For the first time, all of China’s 10 best-selling passenger car models in a month were new energy vehicles (NEVs), with no internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle making the list in May 2026. Geely Automobile’s Xingyuan led sales with 38,751 units, followed by Tesla’s Model Y and Xiaomi’s SU7. China’s NEV penetration rate reached a record 62.9% during the month.
