NHPC appoints Diwakar Nath Misra as Government Nominee Director

NHPC Limited has appointed Shri Diwakar Nath Misra as Government Nominee Director on its Board with effect from May 14, 2026.

The appointment follows an order issued by the Ministry of Power (MoP) dated May 14, 2026. Shri Misra replaces Shri Mohammad Afzal and will serve until further orders.

Shri Misra currently serves as Additional Secretary (Hydro) in the Ministry of Power. He is a 2000-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

During his career, he has held several senior positions across ministries and departments related to finance, commerce, defence, petroleum, and cabinet affairs.

His previous assignments include serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance, and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

He has also served in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, where he represented the Government of India on the boards of Oil India Limited, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, and Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited.

At the state level, Shri Misra has served as Deputy Commissioner in Dhemaji and Golaghat districts of Assam and as Commissioner and Secretary for Urban Development and Panchayat and Rural Development.

NHPC stated that Shri Misra is not related to any other director on the company’s Board and is not debarred from holding the office of director by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or any other authority.
