L&T wins Middle East order for three BESS projects with 6 GWh capacity

The renewables business vertical of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured an order from a client in the Middle East to develop three Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects with a combined storage capacity of 6 GWh.

The scope covers the BESS facilities as well as associated grid interconnection infrastructure, including pooling substations and underground cabling. The projects are expected to support grid modernisation and renewable energy integration in the region.

Each project will feature a 4-hour BESS configuration, enabling surplus clean energy generated during off-peak periods to be stored and dispatched during peak demand hours. The systems will use liquid cooling technology to support higher power density, safety and operational longevity.

The order involves stringent performance, safety and quality requirements and reflects the client’s confidence in L&T’s engineering and project management capabilities.

L&T is a USD 32 billion Indian multinational with operations spanning EPC projects, hi-tech manufacturing and services across multiple geographies.
