JSW Energy adds 1,166 MW renewable capacity since April
JSW Energy Limited has added 1,166 MW of renewable energy capacity since April 2026, taking its total installed generation capacity to 14,920 MW. The increase follows the recent acquisition of Maruti Clean Coal and Power Limited and has pushed renewables to 60% of the company’s installed capacity.
The company has added more than 94% of the total organic capacity it commissioned during FY26 within the first four months of FY27.
Renewable portfolio
JSW Energy’s renewable capacity comprises 3,125 MW of wind, 2,360 MW of solar, 1,696 MW of hybrid and 1,781 MW of hydro capacity.
Its thermal capacity stands at 5,958 MW, including the 300 MW Maruti Clean Coal and Power plant in Chhattisgarh acquired recently.
Locked-in capacity
The company has 32.4 GW of locked-in generation capacity, comprising 14.9 GW already operational, 13.5 GW under construction across thermal, hydro and renewable projects, and a further 4 GW pipeline.
Its locked-in energy storage portfolio stands at 29.6 GWh, including 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage systems.
JSW Energy remains on track to add 3 GW of greenfield capacity during FY27. The company is targeting 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, along with carbon neutrality by 2050.
