IREDA appoints Javvadi V.N. Subramanyam as Government Nominee Director
The Board of Directors of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) has approved the appointment of Shri Javvadi V.N. Subramanyam, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), as Government Nominee Director on the company’s Board with effect from July 24, 2026.
The appointment follows an MNRE order dated July 23, 2026. Shri Subramanyam will continue as Government Nominee Director until the posts of three Functional Directors are filled or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Professional experience
Shri Subramanyam is a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with more than 18 years of experience across central and state governments. His administrative experience spans renewable energy, public financial management, industrial and infrastructure promotion, health systems and governance reforms.
In his current role as Joint Secretary at MNRE, he contributes to India’s renewable energy agenda. Before joining the ministry, he served as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance, where his responsibilities included financial market policy and international economic engagements.
At the state level, Shri Subramanyam has held several leadership positions. He served as Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (APIIC), Commissioner of Industries and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the AP Economic Development Board.
His previous assignments also include serving as Mission Director of the National Health Mission in Assam and as Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate of Goalpara, Assam.
Education
Shri Subramanyam is a Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant, securing All India First Rank. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and a Master’s in Public Policy. He has also completed the Chevening Gurukul Fellowship in Leadership from King’s College London.
As per the declaration received by IREDA, Shri Subramanyam is not debarred from holding the office of Director by any order of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or any other authority.
