Meta and CleanMax partner for over 900 MW renewable capacity

Meta Platforms, Inc. and Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Limited (CleanMax) have announced a renewable energy partnership in India covering more than 900 MW of capacity.

Under the partnership, the companies will support the development of 837 MW of new solar and wind capacity across Rajasthan and Karnataka. Combined with previously announced projects, the collaboration now represents over 900 MW of renewable energy capacity.

Project structure

CleanMax will develop and operate the 837 MW portfolio comprising utility-scale solar and wind projects in Rajasthan and Karnataka. Meta will purchase 100 per cent of the environmental attributes generated from the projects.

According to the companies, the projects are intended to support Meta’s objective of matching its electricity consumption with 100 per cent clean and renewable energy. The projects are also expected to contribute to new renewable generation capacity on the grid and help address value chain emissions in the region.

Management comments

Kuldeep Jain, Founder and Managing Director of CleanMax, said the partnership aligns with the growing requirement for clean energy to support expanding digital and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

Amanda Yang, Head of Clean and Renewable Energy at Meta, said the agreements represent progress toward Meta’s renewable energy targets in the region and support the addition of new renewable capacity to the Indian grid.

Corporate renewable procurement

The companies stated that the announcement builds on their existing relationship and reflects the increasing role of corporate renewable energy procurement models in India’s energy transition.

According to the statement, the partnership also strengthens CleanMax’s position in providing renewable energy solutions for corporate decarbonisation initiatives linked to digital infrastructure growth.

CleanMax portfolio

CleanMax stated that its contracted renewable energy portfolio reached 5.7 GW in FY 2025-26. The company said around 74 per cent of new contracted capacity during the year came from existing customers.

The company serves 588 customers across technology, digital infrastructure, manufacturing, and industrial sectors. According to CleanMax, data centres and AI infrastructure customers account for 42 per cent of its contracted renewable energy power sales portfolio.

Earlier this month, Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) partnered with CleanMax to procure hybrid renewable energy for manufacturing facilities at Dahej and Vadodara in Gujarat. The project includes 75.90 MW of wind capacity and 84.34 MWp of solar capacity under a group captive arrangement, with the entire power output to be consumed by GACL.
