IEX electricity trade rises 18.9% in August 2025

Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) traded 11,803 million units (MU) of electricity in August 2025, up 18.9 per cent year-on-year. The month also saw 21.68 lakh Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) traded.
National energy use stood at 150.47 billion units, 4.4 per cent higher than last year. Prices declined with better supply liquidity. The Day-Ahead Market averaged Rs 4.00 per unit, down 7 per cent, while the Real-Time Market averaged Rs 3.38 per unit, down 6 per cent.
The Day-Ahead Market traded 4,797 MU, up 3 per cent, and the Real-Time Market reached 5,029 MU, a 44 per cent rise. The Term-Ahead Market fell 6.4 per cent to 835 MU.
Green Market trades increased 7 per cent to 930 MU, at a weighted average of Rs 3.73 per unit. REC volumes rose 2.5 per cent with trades at Rs 360 per certificate.
