NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) on September 5, 2025, in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.
Under the agreement, NGEL will set up a green hydrogen fuelling station at VOC Port and deploy hydrogen-based internal combustion engine trucks for port operations. This initiative is intended to create alternatives to fossil fuel trucks and support decarbonisation efforts.
NTPC has been running a green hydrogen blending project in Surat, Gujarat, for over two years and has undertaken mobility projects in Leh, Ladakh, Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh, Bhubaneswar in Odisha, and Kandla Port in Gujarat.
NGEL is also developing a green hydrogen hub at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and has set a target of reaching 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, including storage solutions.
