Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) has reported a profit of Rs 300 crore for the period ending December 31, 2025. This marks a sharp rise from the Rs 206 crore recorded in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu attributed the improvement to a series of reforms and policy measures implemented by the state government.

According to the Chief Minister, the increase in profitability reflects systemic changes and improved governance practices within the power sector. A key reform highlighted was the implementation of the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Grid Code, which brings state level power operations in line with national technical standards.

The state government is also advancing consumer service digitisation. Around 150,000 smart meters are being installed in Shimla and Dharamshala. These meters will allow real time electricity consumption monitoring through mobile applications.

Investment is continuing in remote and tribal regions. Projects worth Rs 62 crore are underway to strengthen power infrastructure in the Killar Valley, including an 11 kV line from Tindi to Shaur and a 33 kV line from Thirot to Killar. In the Kaza region, 148 households across Mud, Langza, Hikkim, and Kaumik have been provided with 1 kW off grid solar systems.

The state has also announced plans to expand substation capacity. In the next financial year, work will begin on six 33 by 11 kV substations in Kangra district, planned at Ganog, Karla Kotla, Majheen, Moki, Samloti, and Ther.
