Hindustan Power signs 800 MW PSA with MP Power Management

Hindustan Power, through its subsidiary Anuppur Powerprojects Private Limited, has signed a power supply agreement (PSA) with MP Power Management Company Limited for the supply of 800 MW of power from its upcoming unit in Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh.

The agreement will support Madhya Pradesh’s growing electricity demand and expand Hindustan Power’s generation presence in the state.

Under the agreement, 800 MW of power will be supplied to MP Power Management from 2031. The PSA has a tenure of 25 years, with an option for extension by an additional five years. The project will be developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model.

Hindustan Power entered India’s transitional energy sector in 2008 and developed a large power generation project at Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh, which was commissioned in phases during 2015 and 2016. The proposed 800 MW unit represents an expansion of the company’s operations in the region.

Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, said the agreement marks an important step in the company’s expansion plans and reinforces its long-term focus on the power sector. He stated that India’s economic and industrial growth will continue to require dependable baseload power capacity.

Puri added that the PSA reflects the company’s continued commitment to Madhya Pradesh and confidence in its project execution capabilities, including deployment of ultra-supercritical technology for large-scale power infrastructure.

According to the company, the project is expected to support regional economic activity, generate employment opportunities, and improve long-term power availability in Madhya Pradesh.
