GR Infraprojects Limited has executed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreement with NTPC Limited for deployment of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Mouda Super Thermal Power Station in Maharashtra.

The contract, signed on April 23, 2026, is valued at Rs 413.37 crore, excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST). It forms part of NTPC’s EPC package for BESS implementation at its thermal power stations (Lot-1) and will be executed on an EPC basis.

The scope includes design, ex-works supply, services, and comprehensive annual maintenance for the full design life of the system. The project is to be completed within 15 months from the appointed date.

GR Infraprojects had emerged as the lowest (L-1) bidder for the Mouda BESS project in January 2026 and subsequently received the Notification of Award (NoA) in March 2026.

The project reflects the company’s expansion into the energy storage segment beyond its core infrastructure and transmission business. NTPC’s broader BESS programme also covers projects at Gadarwara, Khargone, Dadri, NTECL Vallur, Unchahar, Bongaigaon, and Tanda, with several still under bidding.

Deployment of BESS at thermal power stations aligns with efforts to enhance grid stability and support integration of renewable energy.
