Envision Energy to set up third wind turbine unit in Gujarat

Author: PPD Team Date: 21/07/2025

Envision Energy India will set up a third manufacturing facility in Gujarat and expand its workforce to over 7,000 by FY28. The company also plans to localise key wind turbine components and scale up domestic production, according to RPV Prasad, Managing Director, in an interview with Moneycontrol.

The Gujarat unit will be a 2 GW blade facility, joining its 3 GW blade plant in Tiruchirappalli and nacelle and hub unit in Pune. The Gujarat unit is expected to employ 6,000 people by mid-2027. Another 1,000 will be added at the Pune unit.

Envision will also expand nacelle and hub capacity in Pune from 3 GW to 4.5 GW and set up a gearbox plant in Maharashtra. It plans to begin in-house generator manufacturing by 2027. Currently, generators are sourced from Pioneer Power Gensets in Rajasthan.

In April, MNRE proposed that OEMs localise gearboxes and generators within six months. Envision has sought a one-year window.

The company is not exporting turbines and is focused on domestic demand. Export plans may begin post-2027. India’s wind capacity addition is expected to reach 5.5 GW in FY26. Envision aims to secure 50 per cent of this. The company has no immediate plans for an IPO.

Transmission infrastructure remains a challenge. Some commissioned projects are not operational due to a lack of connectivity. Several substations are under development and are expected to be operational by 2026.

Envision Energy India is a subsidiary of China-headquartered Envision Energy. It holds about 45 per cent of India’s wind energy market and has an order book of nearly 15 GW across 60 projects in six states.
