Cummins India Limited has launched its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) as part of its push towards sustainable power solutions.

The BESS units come in modular 10 ft and 20 ft containers with capacities ranging from 200 kilowatt-hours (kWh) to 2 megawatt-hours (MWh). They use lithium ferrophosphate battery technology and integrated liquid cooling to ensure thermal efficiency and longer lifespan.

Each system features plug-and-play capability for quick deployment and includes a three-tier fire safety system, meeting global safety standards.

Shveta Arya, Managing Director of Cummins India, said this launch comes at a critical point in India’s clean energy transition. “Our BESS is a reliable and scalable solution that strengthens India’s push toward net-zero by 2070,” she said.

Pankaj Kapoor, Vice President of the Distribution Business at Cummins India, added that power users are looking for smarter energy management. “Cummins’ BESS is designed to meet rising energy demands while helping customers control costs and meet sustainability goals,” he said.

Cummins India, established in 1962, is a key player in engine manufacturing. It produces and services engines from 2.8 to 95 litres, and provides diesel and alternative-fueled power solutions across 22 facilities in India.
