CIL forms JV with RRVUNL to develop renewable projects

CIL India Limited (CIL) has incorporated a new joint venture company, CIL Rajasthan Akshay Urja Limited, on June 12, 2025, to develop renewable energy projects in Rajasthan.
The joint venture has been formed under a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) signed between CIL and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL).
The JV company will focus on developing, constructing, and operating solar power projects (SPPs), pumped storage projects (PSPs), and wind power projects. It may also undertake other projects as mutually agreed by both parties.
CIL Rajasthan Akshay Urja Limited will sell the generated power to RRVUNL or other entities as decided jointly. It will also supply renewable power to state distribution companies (DISCOMs) and other buyers, as applicable.
CIL will hold 74 per cent stake in the joint venture, while RRVUNL will hold the remaining 26 per cent.
