Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has partnered with Volks Energie to develop India’s first solar power plant integrated with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for oil and gas pipelines.
The project will span 14 strategic locations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Volks Energie will deploy a combined battery capacity of 1.6 MWh, with Engineers India Limited serving as the project consultant.
The use of LFP batteries ensures improved safety, extended lifespan, and higher energy density compared to traditional batteries. The systems will include advanced safety features such as automatic fire suppression to protect sensitive pipeline station equipment.
