The Joint Venture of Techno Electric and Engineering Company Limited (TEECL) and K. Ramachandra Rao Transmission & Projects Private Limited has secured a Rs 6.16 billion contract for Package H of the Assam Intra-State Transmission System Enhancement Project (Phase I). 

The project, awarded by Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL), involves constructing a 400/220kV, 2×500 MVA GIS substation at Sonapur, along with associated transmission lines.

The contract includes design, engineering, manufacturing, erection, testing, and commissioning of GIS, transformers, switchgear, substation steel structures, control room buildings, and associated transmission lines, all on a turnkey basis. 

The work is scheduled for completion in 730 days.

Funded by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the project aims to strengthen Assam’s transmission system through the construction of new substations, laying new lines, upgrading existing infrastructure, and replacing ground wires with optical power ground wires (OPGW). Phase II of the project was approved in April 2022.
