MSEDCL introduces automated approval for electricity load increase requests

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has introduced an online platform to approve requests for raising electricity load up to 157 kilowatts (kW) for industrial, commercial, domestic, and other low-voltage consumers.
The system allows approvals to be completed within 24 to 48 hours after fee payment. Most cases do not require additional infrastructure, allowing for quicker activation.
The platform enables consumers to request both increases and decreases in electricity load. It was introduced for the period from September 17 to October 2.
Earlier, applications submitted online or via the mobile app were reviewed manually, which caused delays. Under the new platform, applications for load increases up to 157 kW are processed automatically, including the issuance of online quotations and fee payment.
The automated system covers three low-voltage categories: 0–7.5 kW, 7.5–20 kW, and 20–157 kW. Once the consumer submits the request and pays the fees, approval and activation are handled automatically, with confirmation sent to registered email addresses or mobile numbers.
If new meters or infrastructure changes are needed, the platform automatically generates orders for relevant agencies. Requests requiring only software adjustments are completed within 24 hours, while those needing new meters or upgrades are expected to finish within 48 hours. MSEDCL will also sanction budgets for necessary work and provide updates at each stage.
