Naveen Jindal Group explores sites for 18 GW nuclear power portfolio
The Naveen Jindal Group is evaluating locations across more than nine states for nuclear power projects, including Gujarat, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. Site assessments are focused on land availability, water resources, seismic considerations, grid connectivity, regulatory requirements and overall project viability. The group has incorporated Jindal Nuclear Power Private Limited as a wholly owned subsidiary of Jindal Renewables. It is targeting 18 GW of nuclear generation capacity using large modular reactors with unit capacities of 700 MW or above, with investments estimated at several lakh crore rupees.
Bluebird Solar has secured an order from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) to supply 439.35 MW of solar photovoltaic modules for a project in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh. The company will supply M10R N-Type TOPCon Dual-Glass Bifacial Solar PV Modules from its Greater Noida manufacturing facility. Bluebird Solar currently operates a 2.5 GW solar PV module manufacturing facility and plans to establish 2.5 GW integrated capacities for solar cells, wafers, ingots and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The company manufactures modules for utility-scale, commercial, industrial and residential applications.
SECI’s 2,000 MW wind auction sees lowest bid at Rs 3.78/kWh
The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) concluded the e-reverse auction for 2,000 MW of ISTS-connected wind power projects under Tranche-XX on July 15, 2026. Gentari Renewables India Castor One Private Limited emerged as the lowest bidder with a tariff of Rs 3.78 per kWh, while most of the successful capacity was discovered at Rs 3.85 per kWh. Twelve bidders secured allocations ranging from 50 MW to 200 MW at Rs 3.85 per kWh. Successful developers will sign Power Purchase Agreements with SECI under the tariff-based competitive bidding framework.
Adani Power signs PSA with MSEDCL for 1,600 MW supply
Adani Power Limited has signed a 25-year Power Supply Agreement with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply of 1,600 MW of electricity. The power will come from a proposed 2×800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant to be developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model. Adani Power had earlier received a Letter of Award from MSEDCL on March 15, 2026, after emerging as the lowest bidder with a tariff of Rs 5.30 per kWh. Power supply is scheduled to commence from FY2030-31.
Emmvee’s PAT more than doubles to Rs 380 crore in Q1 FY27
Emmvee Photovoltaic Power Limited reported revenue from operations of Rs 1,555.5 crore in Q1 FY27, up 51% year-on-year. Profit after tax increased by 103% to Rs 380.3 crore, while EBITDA rose 56% to Rs 548.1 crore. Solar module production reached 970 MW and solar cell production stood at 454 MW during the quarter. The company ended June 2026 with manufacturing capacities of around 10.3 GW of modules and 2.94 GW of TOPCon solar cells, alongside an order book of around 9.9 GW.
SJVN appoints Arti Kujur as independent director
SJVN Limited has announced the appointment of Smt. Arti Kujur as an Independent Director on its Board. The appointment was made by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, through an order dated July 15, 2026. Her tenure will be for three years from July 15, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. SJVN stated that she is not related to any member of the Board and is not debarred from holding the office of director.
ReNew-Mitsui RTC project secures US$730 million green loan refinancing
A 320 MW round-the-clock hybrid renewable energy project developed by ReNew and Mitsui has secured a US$730 million green loan from a consortium of 12 banks. The financing will refinance existing senior debt and support project-related costs and capital expenditure. The project spans Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Karnataka and combines wind, solar and battery energy storage assets. The lender consortium was led by Standard Chartered Bank, Société Générale (GIFT City), Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (Singapore), and Bank of America.
BII, EAAIF back Blueleaf Energy’s India expansion through $75 million facility
British International Investment (BII) has partially syndicated its mezzanine debt investment in Blueleaf Energy to the Emerging Africa & Asia Infrastructure Fund (EAAIF). EAAIF will participate in 50% of the US$75 million facility, with both investors holding US$37.5 million each. Blueleaf Energy, owned by Macquarie Asset Management, is targeting around 5 GW of renewable energy capacity in India by 2030. The financing will support the development of 850 MW of greenfield renewable energy projects in India.
Siemens Energy to rebrand as Omterra under independent identity
Siemens Energy has announced plans to adopt the new corporate brand “Omterra” as part of its transition to an independent identity. The move follows Siemens Energy’s spin-off from Siemens AG in 2020 and the expiry of its time-limited licensing agreement for the Siemens brand. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy will also operate under the Omterra brand once the transition is complete. The company said the rebranding will begin later this calendar year and be implemented in phases.
India’s installed power capacity crosses 548.8 GW in June 2026
India’s installed power generation capacity reached 548,858.47 MW as of June 30, 2026, according to the Central Electricity Authority. Non-fossil fuel sources accounted for 297,369 MW, or 54.18% of the total, while fossil fuel-based generation stood at 251,489 MW. Coal remained the largest source at 224,158 MW, followed by solar at 162,152 MW and wind at 57,443 MW. The Western Region contributed the highest installed capacity at 188,077.56 MW.
PSPCL seeks tighter checks on peak-hour power availability declarations
Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has raised concerns over compliance with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission’s October 5, 2025 suo-motu order on peak-hour power availability declarations. PSPCL proposed automated validation through the Web-Based Energy Scheduling platform or verification by Regional Power Committees. However, the Northern Regional Power Committee’s Commercial Sub-Committee decided to retain the existing monitoring mechanism carried out by Grid Controller of India Limited. Grid-India will continue monthly reviews and seek explanations from generators where peak-hour Declared Capacity is lower than off-peak levels.
AMPIN Energy signs PPA with SECI for 199 MW FDRE project
AMPIN Energy Transition has signed a Power Purchase Agreement for its 199 MW / ~800 MWh Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy project under Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited Tranche VII. The project combines renewable generation with battery energy storage and marks AMPIN’s entry into the storage-backed renewable energy segment. It will incorporate approximately 800 MWh of battery energy storage capacity to support scheduled power delivery. The agreement establishes a long-term contractual framework for supplying firm and dispatchable renewable power.
