Siemens Energy to rebrand as Omterra under independent identity
Siemens Energy has announced plans to transition to an independent corporate brand, with the company and its wind energy subsidiary, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, set to operate under the new name “Omterra.”
The rebranding follows Siemens Energy’s spin-off from Siemens AG in 2020 and is linked to the time-limited licensing agreement that permits the use of the Siemens brand. The company said the transition process will begin later this calendar year and will be implemented in phases.
Once completed, Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy will be brought together under a single brand identity.
Brand transition
According to the company, the move marks the next stage in its evolution as an independent energy technology business. Siemens Energy said the adoption of the Omterra brand reflects its global presence, technology portfolio and focus on supporting reliable energy supplies.
The company added that the rebranding will not alter its strategic direction or affect its relationships with customers, business partners or employees.
Management comment
Commenting on the development, Christian Bruch, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Siemens Energy, said: “Since our spin-off, it has been clear that the licensed Siemens Energy brand would be available to us for a limited period. Today, our company is well positioned strategically, operationally and financially. We have earned the trust of our customers and the capital markets, improved our profitability, and have ambitious growth plans for the years ahead. Against this backdrop and given that the current brand agreement is time-limited, now is the right time to begin the transition to our own independent brand.”
He added: “We are proud of what our employees have built over the past few years. Our founder’s name opened doors and supported us on our path to independence. This legacy remains both an inspiration and a commitment for us as we actively help shape the energy world of tomorrow.”
