NHPC starts operations of 53.57 MW solar capacity in Bikaner

NHPC Limited has begun commercial operations of 53.57 MW solar capacity under Phase-IV of its 1,000 MW Grid Connected Solar PV Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project is part of the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Tranche-III scheme and became operational on June 30, 2025.
This newly commissioned capacity is a part of the 300 MW solar plant being built at Karnisar-Bhatiyan in Bikaner.
The broader 1,000 MW solar project falls under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, which aims to set up 12,000 MW of grid-connected solar PV capacity across India. Projects under this scheme receive viability gap funding (VGF) and are meant for self-use by public sector entities or supply to Union and state government bodies.
