Waaree Group has started the construction of its alkaline electrolyser manufacturing facility in Valsad, Gujarat, with an initial production capacity of 300 MW.
The plant will support industries like steel, refining, transportation, fertilizers, chemicals, food, and power generation in their transition to decarbonised processes.
The factory will produce high-efficiency, durable electrolysers for large-scale green hydrogen production, featuring low power consumption and flexible operations, along with automated assembly lines for electrolyser stacks.
The facility has been awarded production-linked incentives under the Government of India’s Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) scheme, with a capacity of 300 MW of electrolysers and 90,000 metric tonnes per annum of green hydrogen production.
Meanwhile, Waaree Energies has also commenced commercial production at its 1,400 MW monocrystalline PERC solar cell manufacturing plant in Chikhli, Gujarat. This marks the first phase of its 5,400 MW solar cell manufacturing capacity. The second phase will add 4,000 MW of high-efficiency TOPCon solar cells. The facility is equipped with advanced production lines, high automation, and stringent quality control for efficiency and reliability.
As part of its expansion, Waaree has allocated Rs 55.1 billion for the electrolyser facility, Rs 20 billion for the electrolyser manufacturing plant, Rs 207.3 billion for a 3.5 GWh lithium-ion storage cell plant, and Rs 65 billion for its inverter business.
