Vestas has secured an order to supply turbines for the second phase of the Tyligulska wind energy project in Ukraine, the country’s largest renewable energy project.
Following the successful commissioning of the first phase in spring 2023, Vestas will deliver 64 turbines, contributing 384MW to the project’s total capacity of 498MW across both phases. The turbines, V162-6.2MW models, will each generate 6MW of power.
The project benefits from substantial international support, including backing from Danish and Ukrainian authorities, the European Union (EU), and Denmark’s state-owned export and investment fund, EIFO.
Vestas president and CEO Henrik Andersen expressed pride in expanding the partnership with DTEK, which is driving the project. Since the beginning of the invasion, DTEK has invested over €1 billion in Ukraine.
Vestas will handle the delivery and commissioning of the turbines, starting in Q1 2025 and completing by Q4 2026.
Additionally, Vestas has committed to a long-term service agreement under its Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) package, covering both phases of the Tyligulska project.
