Denmark’s Vestas has secured an order to supply 21 V236-15.0 MW turbines for the 315 MW Oga Katagami Akita Offshore Wind Project in Japan’s Akita Prefecture.
The deal includes a long-term service agreement to optimise turbine performance.
This marks Vestas’ first firm order for its V236-15.0 MW turbine in the Asia-Pacific region and its first project under Japan’s offshore wind auctions based on the Renewable Energy Sea Area Utilization Act.

Vestas has announced plans to transition its Isle of Wight factory in the UK from manufacturing offshore turbine blades to onshore blade production. Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited has won a Rs 1,874.1 million contract for constructing nine 132 kV transmission lines totalling 291 km in route length. The contract, awarded by Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Limited (CSPTCL), was finalized on December 16, 2024, following bids invited in October 2023.
