The Government of Uttar Pradesh has set a target to generate 500 GW of solar power by 2030, focusing on regions like Bundelkhand, Vindhya, and surrounding areas. The goal is to establish these regions as major solar energy hubs.

To support this transition, the state has signed memoranda of understanding with the Smart Energy Council of Australia and the Hinduja Group. These partnerships aim to encourage investment, enable technology transfer, and expand international cooperation in solar energy.

The government has also launched the Solar Mitra Yojana to train workers across the solar value chain—from panel manufacturing to installation, grid integration, and maintenance. The scheme is designed to create skilled jobs alongside infrastructure development.

Several recent projects signal this growing momentum. NHPC Limited’s board has cleared a 1,200 MW solar power park in Jalaun, boosting the state’s solar capacity.

As earlier reported, the state is also implementing the PM Surya Ghar Yojana to install 800,000 rooftop solar systems by March 2027.
